“What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.”  ― John Steinbeck

This was our first (hopefully annual) Gingerbread House party! We ended up with ten 2-5 year olds and their parents (about 21 people total) and I think that everyone had a great time. The most difficult part of the preparations was baking and constructing the houses. We hand made each house and next year I will definitely do this a full week ahead of time. In the end, to save time and frustration, I ended up hot gluing the houses together and then piping frosting over the glue to make it look better (who eats them anyway and this way they wouldn’t fall apart while kids decorated them). The party room had only themed toys and activities and after lunch a lot of the kids got on their winter gear and headed outside to play and work off some of the sugar!
This party was so much fun that I hope it becomes a tradition in our household.
